CityMaps, which is re-envisioning online maps by letting locals collaborate on maps around local landmarks and favorite places, has raised an additional $1.5 million in Series A funding. It’s positioned as an extension to the $2.5 million in Series A round the company raised in late 2011. The New York City-based startup has created a mobile app that allows collaborative building of maps that also allows users to access the library of maps that others have created. Investors in this new Series A round include Ashton Kutcher and Guy Oseary’s A-Grade Investments. CityMaps was founded in 2010 by Elliot Cohen and Aaron Rudenstine.
